The college football season is officially underway, with Penn State football opening its season Saturday at former longtime rival West Virginia.
It will be the favored Nittany Lions first visit to Morgantown in three decades with a raucous gathering expected at Milan Puskar Stadium.
Penn State will open the season on the road for the sixth time in coach James Franklin’s 11 seasons. Each of those previous five were harrowing experiences (last-moment victories over Central Florida, Wisconsin and Purdue; agonizing defeats to Temple and Indiana).
The Nittany Lions, once again, are a Top 10 preseason team and a favorite to qualify for the expanded College Football Playoff. They will attempt to earn the team’s first 11-win regular season under Franklin with the help of three new coordinators and a hopeful retooled offense.
Ahead of the season, Nike has released the annual collaboration of Nike Air Pegasus collections with selected universities around the country, including Penn State.
