Texas football lands commitment from Jamie Ffrench, 5-star WR in 2025 class

Texas football’s late-summer recruiting surge continued Friday morning when the Longhorns nabbed a commitment from Florida wide receiver Jamie Ffrench, a five-star prospect for the 2025 class.

Ffrench, from Jacksonville, is the second five-star receiver to commit to Texas this summer. Kaliq Lockett of Garland Sachse High School pledged earlier this month.

French also is the second five-star prospect to pick Texas in the past week, joining Galveston Ball athlete Jonah Williams.

With three five-stars among its 19 pledges, Texas’ national class ranking has rocketed up to No. 7 on 247Sports’ composite list. Ohio State tops the list followed by six SEC schools: Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Auburn and Tennessee.

Jamie Ffrench stats at Mandarin High School

The 6-foot-1, 184-pound Ffrench lines up everywhere for his Mandarin High School squad, and his versatility could get him immediate playing time in Texas coach Steve Sarkisian’s offense. Last season, he hauled in 62 catches for 1,247 yards and 14 touchdowns while showing elite hands and body control, especially on contested catches.
