A pair of North Carolina Class 4A powerhouses look to score a key Week 2 victory at each other’s expense Friday night as Rolesville plays host to Grimsley. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Both teams enter the game undefeated, each with an opportunity to make an early statement that will reverberate statewide. The teams met last season, with Grimsley taking a 63-34 victory.

The Whirlies are coming off a 2023 campaign in which they went 13-1. Grimsley was one in a pair of losses for Rolesville last fall on its way to a 12-2 record.

Grimsley makes the approximately 90-minute drive to Rolesville following a 34-14 win over Mount Tabor in its season opener. While all eyes were on standout quarterback and Tennessee recruit Faizon Brandon, teammate Mitchell Summers ran wild for 212 yards and five touchdowns in the win.

Rolesville made quite the opening statement last week, scoring 57 first half points in a 64-14 dismantling of perennial powerhouse Butler. Quarterback Braden Atkinson completed 22-of-31 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Da’Von Thomas contributed 160 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.
