Rece Davis had a few questions for former Ohio State football quarterback Kirk Herbstreit at the start of ESPN’s “College GameDay” Saturday afternoon.
When introducing the Week 1 slate of games, including Ohio State vs. Akron at 3:30 p.m. on CBS, Davis asked Herbstreit about Ohio State coach Ryan Day disclosing changes to the Buckeyes’ pregame traditions, including players wearing team-issued sweats to the Skull Session and into Ohio Stadium.
While Herbstreit had no answers, Davis had an opinion.
“Put those suits back on,” Davis said. “Dress like it means something.”
But Pat McAfee said changes might be good for the Buckeyes heading into the 2024 season.
“Ohio State has lost to Michigan three straight times,” McAfee said. “Take those suits off.”
Day said on his weekly radio show that the decision to wear team-issued sweats was a team leadership decision.
“We wanted everybody to look the same,” Day said. “The leaders felt like that was a good decision, and we all agreed on that. I kind of felt strong about that. So excited about that part of it.”
