LAS VEGAS — LSU football will be without one of its starting receivers in the 2024 season opener against USC on Sunday.
Junior wide out Chris Hilton, while listed on the No. 12 Tigers’ depth chart, will not be available to suit up in the Vegas Kickoff Classic against the No. 23 Trojans inside Allegiant Stadium.
Hilton suffered a bone bruise in practice a little more than a week ago. LSU coach Brian Kelly said earlier in the week Hilton was questionable to play, and by Thursday details emerged that the 6-foot, 192-pound receiver was making his way through the process of going from questionable to probable to play against USC.

It appears Hilton didn’t quite recover enough to be able to play in LSU’s opener.
In his place, LSU fans can expect to see freshman Kyle Parker, who is listed behind Hilton on the two-deep. He played six snaps in the ReliaQuest Bowl win for LSU in January but this will be his first look at significant playing time for the Tigers.
Kelly has lauded Parker’s performance during preseason practice.
