After an exciting opening week of the high school football season, it’s time to look back on the top individual performances and vote for the best one.

Cole Capuzzi
Mendham senior running back
Capuzzi kept the Minutemen close in a 24-16 loss to rival West Morris on Friday. Capuzzi rushed 17 times for 113 yards and a 29-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for Mendham’s first points of the season. In addition to an interception on defense, Capuzzi kicked a 29-yard field goal to tie the game in the fourth quarter and also connected on both of his extra point attempts.
Weston Elms
Morristown sophomore quarterback
In his varsity debut for the Colonials, Elms needed to attempt only eight passes. The sophomore connected on six of those attempts for 197 yards and three touchdown passes in a 36-7 win over Paterson Eastside on Friday. Elms threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Jahaziel Torres in the first quarter and his 65-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Moreau gave Morristown a 15-7 halftime lead. Elms also connected with Jasiah Brown for an 80-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.
Anthony Feaster
Montville senior wide receiver
Feaster caught three passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns during the Mustangs’ 33-9 victory on Thursday at Sparta. Feaster caught first half touchdown passes from 44 and 56 yards to give Montville a 16-0 halftime lead. Feaster also rushed 12 times for 47 yards and a second half touchdown on the ground, his third time in the end zone on the night.
