Clock violation… on the clock?
That’s the scenario as Boston College football takes on Florida State on Monday night. The clock was malfunctioning, so the time was being kept on the field. ESPN’s scorebug did not include the time.
The back judge will hold both of his hands to indicate that there are 15 seconds left on the play clock and will hold one hand in the air when there are 10 seconds remaining. The referees will let the coaches know how much time is left in the quarter following each possession.
The clock issues appear to be fixed early in the second quarter.
Bill O’Brien’s debut
Bill O’Brien, a Boston native, was hired to coach BC in the offseason. O’Brien was an assistant coach with the New England Patriots from 2007-2011 and also in 2023.
He was previously the head coach at Penn State University and also coached the Houston Texans. O’Brien boasted a 15-9 record with the Nittany Lions and a 52-48 mark with the Texans.
O’Brien grew up in Andover and attended St. John’s Prep in Danvers before playing at Brown University.
