DJ Uiagalelei interception prompts ‘We want Brock’ chants from FSU football fans

Florida State football fans’ patience with their team’s quarterback struggles is wearing thin.

The most obvious indication of that occurred shortly after starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, a transfer from Clemson by way of Oregon State, threw an interception on a fourth-down conversion attempt in the first drive of the second half.

An errant Uiagalelei pass fell into the hands of Boston College’s Max Tucker, who returned it 58 yards to the Florida State 7-yard line. Two plays later, Boston College scored a touchdown to take a 21-6 lead in the second half, prompting FSU fans to chant, “We want Brock.”

“Brock,” of course, refers to backup quarterback Brock Glenn, a 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman who was a three-star recruit in the Seminoles’ 2023 recruiting class. Per 247Sports’ Composite rankings, he was the No. 30 QB in the class and the No. 481 player in the country.

Per his Florida State bio, Glenn appeared in five games last season, completing 19 of 51 passes for 229 yards and two interceptions.

At the time of the interception, Uiagalelei had completed less than 50% of his passes for just over 100 yards and an interception. Of course, he followed up two drives later with a 3-of-4 passing drive for 73 yards and a 29-touchdown to Kentron Poitier to make the score 21-13.

Whether FSU fans get their desire to see Glenn in the game remains to be seen.
