Penn State moves up slightly in Week 1’s US LBM Coaches Poll

After handily taking care of West Virginia on Saturday afternoon, and a few other interesting results throughout the extended college football holiday weekend, Penn State moved up one spot in the updated US LBM Coaches Poll. The updated coaches poll did see some movement in the top 10, most notably Florida State, who lost twice, moving from tenth to unranked.

Penn State will now head into its Week 2 matchup ranked as No. 8 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, which was released Tuesday afternoon via USA TODAY Sports.

The top 10 got shuffled around a bit with Texas moving up to No. 3 as well as Alabama and Ole Miss moving up one spot. Georgia and Ohio State both remained the top two teams in the country. The Bulldogs are the runaway first-place team with 51 votes while the Buckeyes received only three. No team jumped the Nittany Lions and Michigan fell below Penn State after struggling to a victory against Fresno State.

Another big faller in the poll is Texas A&M who went from No. 20 to unranked after losing to Notre Dame. The Big Ten now has seven teams ranked after Washington moved into the last spot after being unranked last week. After USC’s big win over LSU the Trojans were this week’s biggest risers moving up nine spots to No. 14.

Georgia Tech is the first team out with 86 votes. Wisconsin, Maryland and Nebraska are the three Big Ten teams in the receiving votes category.
