We’re one week into the 2024 college football season, and already, we’ve had quite a bit of craziness in the SEC.

The league didn’t fare particularly well in its matchups against power conference opponents in the opening weekend, with only Georgia winning a 34-3 beatdown against Clemson in Atlanta and Vanderbilt stunning potential ACC dark horse Virginia Tech in overtime.

Elsewhere, it wasn’t a great look for the league. Florida was embarrassed by Miami on its home field, while LSU and Texas A&M didn’t have enough in losses to ranked opponents over the weekend.

We still have so many questions about all of these teams, but here’s how I see the SEC teams stacking up after the first weekend of the season.

The Gamecocks held on to beat Old Dominion 23-19 on Saturday, but it was about as discouraging a performance as you’ll see in a win. The offense struggled mightily and redshirt freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who had 114 yards on 10 of 23 passing, doesn’t look like the answer. Shane Beamer could be in for a rough Year 4.
