Tale of tape
The first week of the college football season isn’t always the best as far as figuring out statistical matchups. It’s more confusing when you realize Notre Dame’s rushing numbers and passing numbers weren’t even in the same league as each other.
As impressive as the Irish’s offense was against Texas A&M, it didn’t put up flashy numbers, so some of the numbers you see here might be misleading. One has to think [autotag]Riley Leonard[/autotag] will throw for 200 yards in a game soon.
When it comes to this matchup at least, Northern Illinois ranks higher in some defensive categories than the Irish do in some offensive coordinators but has allowed higher numbers. Other categories will paint a more conventional picture.
But there shouldn’t be anything for Irish fans to be too concerned about. The Irish have yet to lose a game to a Mid-American Conference team, and there’s little reason to think that trend will be bucked. Just for reference though, we’ll share how the Irish’s offense stacks up against the Huskies’ defense:

Notre Dame is tied for 107th nationally with 158.0 passing yards a game.
Northern Illinois is tied for 80th nationally with 204.0 passing yards allowed a game.
