Tigers rise 2 spots in US LBM Coaches Poll after Week 2 win over Nicholls

Kyren Lacy 2 runs the ball as the LSU Tigers take on the Nicholls Colonels at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024.

After falling in the desert to USC to begin the season, LSU got back on track with a Week 2 win over Nicholls in its home opener on Saturday night.

It wasn’t exactly the most encouraging performance as the defense had some issues again and the Colonels cut the lead to just two in the third quarter. However, LSU ultimately pulled away to win 44-21, and that was enough to see a two-spot rise in the US LBM Coaches Poll from No. 19 to No. 17.

The Tigers are one of eight SEC teams ranked in the top 25 and were the final team from the league to crack the coaches poll.

Here’s the full coaches poll from Week 2.
