On Saturday, the Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class got a surprise boost with the addition of Myron Charles. The four-star recruit committed to Florida State in June but decided to join the Longhorns. He will now be part of a Texas defense full of talent and on the rise.
Charles, who plays for Port Charlotte High, is currently ranked as the 134th-best player in the nation by 247Sports Composite. He is also ranked as the 22nd-best player in Florida in his class. During his high school career, the talented defensive lineman has shown a talent for frustrating offenses.
Before choosing Florida State, Charles had drawn interest from some of the top programs in the country, including Georgia, LSU, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, and Tennessee. Although this is not how the Longhorns drew it up, they can now count on having Charles in the mix as they look to make a name for themselves in the SEC.
With the addition of Charles, Texas now has the No.6 recruiting class in the country. He is the second Florida-based player in the Longhorns 2025 class, joining five-star wideout Jaime Ffrench.
Although fans will have to wait a while for his college debut, excitement is building over what Charles will do in Texas. If he lives up to expectations, he has the potential to be a key piece on defense. An already promising future for the Longhorns has gotten even brighter.
