Last year, the Princeton Vikings won their first solo Greater Miami Conference championship since 1993 and went on to a 12-1 season overall. The Vikings have jumped out to a 2-1 record overall through three weeks, including a pair of wins over GMC foes. Senior linebacker Paul (P.J.) Nelson is helping lead the defense that has allowed just six points in the conference.
Nelson, previously committed to Cincinnati, also received offers from Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia before committing to Indiana in July.

Who is Indiana commit Paul Nelson?
Nelson is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker for the Vikings who has had varsity experience since his freshman season.
Nelson combined for 146 tackles (84 solo), 17 sacks, 35 tackles for loss, 11 forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception across his sophomore and junior seasons. Through three games in 2024, Nelson has 23 total tackles (nine solo), a sack and a forced fumble. He was named the Ohio Division I Defensive Player of the Year last season.

The recruiting site 247Sports lists Nelson as a three-star recruit and the No. 59 ranked player in the state for the 2025 class and the No. 119 linebacker nationally. Nelson is even higher in the 247Sports composite rankings, listed as the No. 42 player in Ohio and the No. 104 linebacker in the nation.
