Auburn commit Alvin Henderson breaks AHSAA record for points in a game

While this weekend did not go as planned for the current Auburn football team, a future Tiger made history on Friday night. Four-star running back commit Alvin Henderson had himself the game of his life in Elba’s 80-78 loss against McKenzie high school, rushing for non touchdowns and three two-point conversions in the loss.

Henderson’s 9 rushing touchdowns tied the all-time Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) record for rushing scores in a game, while his 60 total points set the AHSAA record for most points scored by any player in a game. In a contest that produced the Alabama record for most points (158), the Auburn commit was the clear star. He rushed the ball a grand total of 41 times, racking up 389 yards (9.5 YPC) on the ground in the loss, and now has 895 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in just three games this season.

While Henderson is unlikely to lead Elba to a state championship after a 1-2 start to the 2024 campaign, the 5-foot-9, 200-pound back has a chance to break his record-setting rushing totals of 3.523 yards and 61 touchdowns from a year ago.

With Auburn’s 2024 season taking a unfortunate turn after a week two loss to California, Tiger fans should at least be optimistic about the prospect of having Henderson lead the backfield as soon as 2025. We’ll see if he can break his single-game rushing record as Elba’s season rolls into the fall.
