Texas A&M (1-1) will head to Gainsville, Florida, to face a shaky but ultimately talented Florida Gators team on Saturday afternoon, as the new head coach, Mike Elko, looks to earn his first SEC victory, as well as A&M’s first conference road win since 2021.

On Wednesday, the first official injury report provided by both programs revealed that Florida is facing serious injury issues ahead of the matchup. One of the team’s top receiving options is sophomore wideout Eugene Wilson, who is questionable after sustaining a lower-body injury.

Elko and his staff will prepare to face a two-quarterback system with veteran Graham Mertz and freshman phenom DJ Lagway trading snaps. However, how both will be used is still up in the air, as Lagway provides more upside in the deep passing game, while Mertz is reliable and steady in the pocket.

For both to succeed against Texas A&M’s secondary, Wilson, who leads the Gators with 13 receptions, 191 yards, and two touchdowns this season, possesses the speed to stretch the field. Texas A&M’s defense has not faced a receiver of Wilson’s skillset in two games.

Texas A&M will travel to Gainsville to take on the Florida Gators on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ABC.
