New Mexico State (1-1, 0-1 Conference USA) travels to Fresno State (1-1) for its first road game of the season at 8: 30 p.m. on Saturday.
The Aggies are coming off their first loss of 2024 last week against Liberty, falling 30-24 at home in their CUSA opener. NM State was up 24-15 with 5:12 left to play before allowing 15 unanswered points off two touchdowns from Flames’ running back Quinton Cooley. The Aggies scored on their first three drives, but only found points on one of their next 10 drives that didn’t result in a quarterback kneel.
Fresno State is 1-1 this season with a loss against No. 16 Michigan and a win against Sacramento State. The Bulldogs defeated the Hornets 46-30 last week after tallying 516 total yards and six touchdowns. Fresno State’s interim coach is Tim Skipper, who was a defensive coordinator under NM State coach Tony Sanchez at UNLV from 2018-19.
