It might be earlier than most fans are used to, but it’s time for the Apple Cup.
The rivalry matchup between in-state foes Washington and Washington State is usually reserved for the Friday after Thanksgiving; however, with the Huskies leaving the Pac-12, the two rivals worked out a new contract to keep the annual matchup on the schedule for both teams through 2028, with this year’s matchup being played in Seattle.

Both teams enter the season 2-0 this season, with more than just bragging right up for grabs. The Huskies are coming off a 30-9 victory over Eastern Michigan behind a 261-yard, four-touchdown performance from quarterback Will Rogers. Washington, which finished as the runners-up last season, is in the first year under coach Jedd Fisch and replaced much of its roster.
The Cougars are coming off an impressive 37-16 win over Texas Tech and have out-scored opponents 100-46 through the first two games. WSU quarterback John Mateer finished with 115 passing yards, 197 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the victory over the Red Raiders.
Washington won the Apple Cup last season on a game-winning 42-yard field goal by Grady Gross to move the Huskies to 12-0 and deny the Huskies a bowl berth. The Huskies lead the all-time series 75-33-6.
