By now, it has been well-documented that Texas football has a quarterback narrative going on in Austin between Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning.
Saturday’s 56-7 win over UTSA didn’t help that case, as Manning put together a breakout performance after taking over for Ewers, who left the game with an oblique strain. The backup completed 9 of 12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns, adding three rushes for 53 yards and another score.

The closest Texas has come to producing a Heisman winner since Williams in 1998 was runner-up finishes by quarterbacks Vince Young and Colt McCoy in 2005 and 2008, respectively.
To put Manning’s rise in the Heisman odds into real perspective, the redshirt freshman quarterback had +10000 odds to win the Heisman at the start of the season.
