Mississippi State football lands 4-star RB Damarius Yates in 2026 recruiting class

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football and coach Jeff Lebby has received a fifth commitment for the 2026 recruiting class, and it’s a significant one.

Four-star running back Demarius Yates pledged to the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. The Kemper County product is the first four-star commitment in MSU’s 2026 class. He attended Saturday night’s 41-17 loss to Toledo at Davis Wade Stadium and picked MSU over offers from Penn State, Tennessee, TCU, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas A&M and others.

Yates is the second running back in the class, joining Tupelo three-star Jaeden Hill.

Yates announced his commitment with an Instagram post saying, “I’m happy to be on this journey I’m thankful to everyone who supported me on my way to the next level let’s grind.”

In three games this season for Kemper County, Yates has rushed for 281 yards and three touchdowns while also accumulating 183 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Damarius Yates 247 ranking

Yates is a four-star, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s measured at 5-foot-9, 179 pounds and is listed as the No. 4 player in Mississippi, the fifth best running back and No. 58 player nationally.
