Montana Western makes statement against College of Idaho

Sep. 15—DILLON — Michael Palandr threw for 398 yards and four touchdowns as No. 9 Montana Western picked up a 42-25 victory over No. 3 College of Idaho Saturday at Bulldog Stadium.

Palandr added two scores on the ground as the Bulldogs racked up over 500 yards of offense.

In Helena, Carroll took a late lead on a 21-yard field goal from Spencer Berger to hold off Rocky Mountain College.

Montana Western 42, College of Idaho 25

Dylan Shipley caught a team-high nine passes for 179 yards and one touchdown, Eli Nourse caught four passes and took two of them to the house for Western (2-0 overall, 1-0 in Frontier games).

Travis Marieiro led the Yotes (2-1, 0-1) receivers with 11 grabs for 144 yards.

Quarterback Andy Peters threw for 267 yards and ran for 75 more including one touchdown for C of I.

Carroll 16, Rocky Mountain 13

HELENA — Berger finished 3-for-4 on field goals, including the 21-yard winner with 1:35 left in the game. He made kicks from 25, 44 and 21, and missed from 30 in the third quarter.

Jack Prka threw for 191 yards and ran for 77 more for the Saints (1-1 overall, 1-0 in Frontier games).

Max Lehman carried the ball 11 times and found the end zone for Carroll’s only touchdown.

Graedyn Buell was 13-for-28 passing for the Bears (1-2, 0-1), throwing one touchdown and one interception. He added 56 yards rushing on 22 carries.

Joseph Dwyer hauled in five catches, including the lone touchdown for Rocky Mountain College.

Whitworth 31, Eastern Oregon 19

SPOKANE, Wash. — Evan Liggett caught a pair of touchdown passes from Ryan Blair as Whitworth scored the first 31 points to defeat Eastern Oregon in a non-conference game Saturday.

Ryan finished 17-for-26 for 211 yards and three touchdowns. He was sacked once.

Luis Salgodo carried the ball 24 times and gained 145 yards with one touchdown for the Pirates (2-0).
