During his press conference following a 56-7 win over UTSA on Saturday night, Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian said that “we’ve got to do everything in our part to get (Quinn Ewers) as healthy as we can as quickly as possible.”
That process may not take that long.
Citing sources, Orangebloods reported Sunday that Ewers is considered week-to-week after the Texas quarterback left Saturday’s game with what Sarkisian described as an oblique strain. According to an ESPN report, Ewers will likely miss the Longhorns’ upcoming game against Louisiana-Monroe.

A Texas spokesperson told the American-Statesman on Sunday afternoon that Sarkisian would speak further about Ewers’ status during his weekly news conference Monday.
Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers (3) holds up the sign of the horns after the 56-7 win over UTSA at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.
A third-year starter, Ewers has thrown for 691 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions this season. He has completed 73.4% of his passes.
If Ewers is unable to play against the Warhawks, No. 2 Texas has a strong backup plan in redshirt freshman Arch Manning. After Ewers was injured on Saturday night, Manning accounted for five touchdowns.
