It was another dominant performance by the Texas Longhorns Saturday night. Texas bested UTSA in all phases of the game and only had a few sloppy plays. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian will be thankful for some teachable moments in a game that was never in doubt.
The bad news was Texas QB and Heisman favorite Quinn Ewers was injured in the game. Sark says its abdominal strain. We’ll see in the coming days how severe the injury is.
But in stepped Arch Manning, who looked so good the ESPN announcers started discussing a possible QB controversy. Don’t bet on it.
The Texas wide receivers continued to look strong. The Texas Longhorns defense was near perfect on the night, only giving up one big running play.
All in all, it was a commanding performance from the Texas Longhorns under the odd conditions of losing your star QB in the first half.

Quinn Ewers was a fantastic 14 for 16 and 2 TDs on 223 yards before leaving with an injury. Ewers did throw one bad interception after it appeared like he hurt his hand. But he bounced back for with a TD drive. Arch Manning finished 9 for 12 and 185 yards and 4 TDs passing, one rushing. And third string QB Trey Owen looked fine in his brief appearance, going 2 for 4.
