Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian provided an injury update to Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers on Monday.
The fourth-year coach announced at his game week news conference that Ewers is “day-to-day” with an oblique strain and is questionable for Saturday’s Week 4 game vs. Louisiana-Monroe.
Ewers sustained his injury in the second quarter of Texas’ 56-7 win over UTSA this past week, prompting backup Arch Manning to enter the game and play the first significant minutes of his college football career.

The Southeastern Conference announced in August that it was joining the Big Ten in requiring mandatory injury reports for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball starting this season. But since Saturday’s game is not an SEC game for Texas, it is not required to submit an injury report.
Ewers, who was ranked in the top three to win the Heisman Trophy at the start of the season, ended his night vs. UTSA completing 14 of 16 passes for 185 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, adding a 7-yard rush.

Sarkisian on Monday said Ewers is “day-to-day” and would be listed as questionable on an injury report if Texas was required to submit one.
He confirmed that it was a non-contact injury for Ewers, who went down in the second quarter of the Longhorns’ win over UTSA.
“It was a non-contact deal, which we touched on. The oblique strain there.
