Illinois left an impression on Mack Sutter.
The four-star Dunlap tight end, part of the Class of 2026, was in Champaign on Saturday for the Fighting Illini’s 30-9 win over Central Michigan. Sutter has newly ranked Illinois as one of his 12 college finalists.
“Illinois is pretty high on my list right now,” Sutter told the Illini Inquirer. “I’ve built really good relationships with (the coaches) throughout this process. I love coming back and spending time with them.”
Sutter has been making his way around the Big Ten Conference, stopping at Ohio State last week then seeing the Illini move to 3-0 on Saturday. According to his social media, he’s scheduled for another trip to see the Buckeyes this upcoming Saturday followed by an unofficial campus visit to Michigan on Sept. 28.
In three games this season, the 6-foot-6, 225-pound junior has 246 receiving yards off 15 catches and two touchdowns. His 11-yard TD against Pekin on Friday brought the Eagles within a point before falling 34-33.
