Fond du Lac and Oshkosh area Week 4 high school football recap

Here is the Week 4 high school football recap from throughout the Fond du Lac and Oshkosh area:

No. 1 (D1) Kimberly 42, Fond du Lac 7

FOND DU LAC – Fondy’s special teams miscues and a turnover led to No. 1 (D1) Kimberly (3-0, 2-0 Fox Valley Association) starting its first three possessions on the Cardinals’ side of the field, which were then all turned into touchdowns as Fond du Lac (0-4, 0-2 FVA) trailed 21-0 early.

A 9-yard rushing touchdown from junior running back Mason Henschel cut the deficit to 14, but the Papermakers responded by scoring a 72-yard touchdown run of their own by their junior back, Kegan Pleau, to take a 28-7 lead into the half.

Kimberly tacked on another rushing touchdown in each of the third and fourth quarters to seal away the blowout win, putting Fond du Lac’s playoff hopes in jeopardy at the midway point of the season.

Sophomore quarterback Deandre Williamson Jr. returned from concussion protocol for the Cardinals, completing 19-of-34 passes for 171 yards while rushing for 39 yards on 12 carries, Henschel racked up 62 yards on eight carries (7.8 ypa), and senior receiver Conor Johnson had 11 catches for 141 yards to highlight the Fondy offense.

Next game: Friday, Sept. 20 @ No. 5 (D2) Kaukauna (3-1, 2-0 FVA)

Appleton North 24, Oshkosh West 7

OSHKOSH – The Wildcats (1-3, 0-2 Fox Valley Association) held the Lightning (3-1, 2-0 FVA) in check throughout the first half, trailing just 7-0 at the break, but North tacked on 10 points in the third quarter before West scored its first points of the game on a 2-yard touchdown run by senior running back Jake Balog to begin the fourth and it was too little, too late.

Balog finished with 11 carries for 45 yards while fellow senior Jaiden Fronczak also carried 11 times for 37 yards. Senior quarterback Chase Brandl completed 5-of-8 passes for 20 yards before…
