Many in Norman won’t call it a big deal, but Oklahoma’s win against Tulane had some weight. The Sooners had to showcase a few specific things en route to a win, or confidence may have dwindled. Brent Venables and his staff pressed the right buttons, and his players executed at a high enough level that Oklahoma went home 34-19 winners against a good Tulane Green Wave team.

The Sooners have had their day off, and the page has flipped to preparing for their biggest test to date. It’s a historic moment for this football program as the Sooners get set to welcome former Sooner quarterback and co-offensive coordinator Josh Heupel back to Norman as he brings his No. 6 ranked Tennessee Volunteers to Norman for OU’s first-ever SEC game.
