Football fans who want to watch Texas football play ULM on Saturday night won’t be able to tune into a traditional television station.
This weekend, the ULM-Texas game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and SEC Network+. Both ESPN+ and SEC Network+ are streaming services.
So what does that mean for fans who want to watch the Longhorns play football?
Texas players put their “horns up” after their win against the UTSA Roadrunners at Darrell K RoyalÐTexas Memorial Stadium, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.
Those who already subscribe to ESPN+ can stream the game through that digital platform. A monthly subscription to ESPN+ currently costs $10.99 per month.
For customers who get the SEC Network through their cable packages, SEC Network+ is complementary to that channel. Viewers will still need to watch SEC Network+ through the ESPN app.
Because of the SEC’s new television deal, which runs through the 2033-34 school year, ESPN+ has the annual right to exclusively stream one football game and up to two men’s basketball games for each SEC school. Only non-conference games can be aired exclusively by ESPN+. This weekend’s game between Bowling Green and Texas A&M will also only be seen on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.
For those who do tune into Saturday’s ULM-Texas game, former UT running back Fozzy Whittaker and play-by-play announcer Lowell Galindo will be in the broadcast booth. Texas owns a 2-0 record in its all-time series with the Warhawks.
