Kirby Smart provides several injury updates ahead of Alabama game

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart addressed the media during Georiga’s Week 4 bye week. The Bulldogs (3-0) are banged up after playing a physical game against the Kentucky Wildcats. Georgia is licking its wounds as the Bulldogs prepare to play at the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 28.

Georgia will be without All-SEC offensive guard Tate Ratledge against Alabama. Ratledge recently underwent tightrope surgery and is expected to miss six weeks. Georgia offensive lineman Micah Morris will see more snaps with Ratledge out of the lineup.

“We play Micah (Morris) a lot,” said Smart. “So, we have three guards that play. That’s why we do that because there’s a chance of injury and we play three guys. So, I didn’t see a lot different with him going out. Micah stepped in and played. Micah probably had to play more than he typically does, and he and Dylan (Fairchild) did a good job.”

Micah Morris is a very experienced option. Morris has played in 20 total games during the 2022 and 2023 seasons and has played in all three of Georgia’s games in 2024.

Kirby Smart clarified that Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is healthy and practicing despite suffering an AC sprain in his shoulder. Additionally, Smart updated the status of three Georgia defensive linemen who missed the Kentucky game.

“They’re all working to come back. They’re all doing the rehab process, Warren’s (Brinson) really close, he’s out there doing stuff now. Mykel’s (Williams) running, Jordan’s (Hall) running, so we’re hoping to get those guys back,” said Smart.
