The ingredients for an Inter-County Conference South classic will be present Friday night in Boswell.

Windber will bring one of the area’s top rushing attacks into this meeting of 3-1 teams at North Star. Senior back Luke Hostetler and senior quarterback Lucas Oleksa front a deep backfield with 10 different players combining for nearly 1,500 rushing yards in four games.
“Windber has been one of the better teams in the area for a long time,” North Star coach Bob Landis said. “Coach (Matt) Grohal has a system in place and the guys buy into that system. It’s going to be a good challenge to go up against a good football program like that in the middle of the season.”
North Star will showcase an often electric passing game led by do-everything playmaker Ethan Smith and sophomore quarterback Kasey Yoder.
“I think Ethan Smith is the best kid in the area,” Windber coach Matt Grohal said. “He is a special player. He is really good. We’ve got to try to contain him.
“If we can, we have a chance to be successful. If not, it could be a long night.”
A senior, Smith has 251 rushing yards and one touchdown, and 254 receiving yards and five TDs.
A first-year starting quarterback, Yoder has completed 43 of 73 passes for 522 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions. On defense, he has five interceptions, including two Friday in a 33-6 win at Tussey Mountain. Yoder picked off three passes in a Week 2 win over Juniata Valley.
“He’s taken advantage of his opportunities,” Landis said.
“They’re throwing the ball his way, and he’s making smart decisions. This is the first year he’s played corner and he’s doing a nice job in terms of where he fits in coverage.”
