The Giants could be without one of their most important defensive players when they face the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday.
Brian Burns, New York’s elite pass-rusher, has been added to the injury report due to a groin injury.
He is listed as questionable.
Burns’ groin tightened up on Friday, leading the Giants to ease up on his workload, reports Art Stapleton of USA Today, who noted that the team hopes “he can get treatment and be ready to go Sunday.”
The Giants’ pass rush, which boasts Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and Kayvon Thibodeaux as its biggest disruptors, hasn’t done much over the first two weeks of the season.
Part of that in Week 2 was the fact that Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was getting rid of the ball incredibly quickly most of the time, while also using his legs to pick up chunks of yardage at a time.
If Burns is unavailable for Week 3, it will make it that much harder for the Giants to get home against Cleveland QB Deshaun Watson.
Big Blue will be without cornerback Nick McCloud (knee) for the second straight game. Linebacker Darius Muasau is listed as questionable. Thibodeau, who was a limited participant in practice this week due to a shoulder, does not cary an injury designation.
The Giants will look to avoid falling to 0-3 when they face the Browns on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Two members of Cleveland’s starting offensive line – right tackle Jack Conklin (knee) and left tackle Jedrick Wills (knee) – are listed as questionable. Starting tight end David Njoku and reserve running back Pierre Strong Jr. are both out.
