Texas A&M (3-1, 1-0 SEC) defeated Bowling Green 26-20 on Saturday night, disappointing the Aggie fan base compared to the team’s performance against the Florida Gators in week 3.
Behind redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed’s second career start, the Aggie offense stalled out after driving down the field for an opening possession touchdown, as Bowling Green’s defense held the Aggies at bay outside of two field goals to take a 13-3 lead into halftime.
Still looking somewhat disjointed in the second half, Reed utilized his legs for 91 yards on the ground while throwing a solid red zone strike to wide receiver Jahdae Walker. Defensively, A&M’s limited the Falcons to 85 yards on the ground but allowed tight end Harold Fannin Jr. to reel 8 receptions for 145 yards and a 65-yard touchdown.
For the Aggies, a win is a win, but head coach Mike Elko was not pleased and has plenty of work ahead this week.
Around the rest of the SEC, Tennessee looks like the top team in the conference, shutting down Oklahoma on the road. In contrast, the Missouri Tigers looked beatable after defeating Vanderbilt at home in overtime.
Several teams, including Illinois, rose in the newest US LBM Coaches Poll, while Texas A&M stayed pat. Here are the latest Top 25 rankings, including nine SEC teams.
