Five takeaways from Vols’ win at Oklahoma

No. 7 Tennessee (4-0, 1-0 SEC) defeated No. 13 Oklahoma (3-1, 0-1 SEC), 25-15, at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma during Week 4. Rankings reflect the US LBM Coaches Poll.

“Good win,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said. “It’s always hard to come on the road against good football teams and a great environment tonight.”

Tennessee will have its first of two open dates in Week 5. The Vols will next play at Arkansas on Oct. 5.

Below are five takeaways from Tennessee’s Week 4 win at Oklahoma to kick off SEC regular-season play.

Josh Heupel records 10th victory over a ranked opponent as Tennessee’s head coach

Heupel is in his fourth season as the Vols’ head coach. Tennessee has 10 wins against ranked opponents during his tenure. The Vols have recorded two top 25 wins this season away from Neyland Stadium. Tennessee also won its first road game versus a top 15 opponent in the AP top 25 since defeating No. 10 Georgia on Oct. 7, 2006.

300-plus offensive yards

Tennessee totaled 345 yards against the Sooners. The Vols have now totaled 300-plus offensive yards in 41-of-43 games under Heupel since 2021.
