Northern, Keyser win routs; East Hardy rolls; Hampshire, Petersburg, Moorefield fall

Sep. 22—HANCOCK — Luke Ross scored three touchdowns, and No. 5 Northern routed Hancock, 49-6, on Friday.

Ross scored on runs of 13, 12 and one yards and finished with seven receptions for 45 yards. He also made two receptions for 18 yards. Caleb Hinebaugh notched an 18-yard rushing touchdown.

Emmitt Lipscomb added five rushes for 33 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown run, and caught a pass for 17 yards.

Quarterback Liam Stewart had a 26-yard rushing touchdown and completed 5 of 6 passes for 48 yards and an interception.

Northern (2-1) also scored points on defense and special teams.

Hancock (0-3) had a snap out of the end zone for a safety, and Northern’s Nick Riley, who racked up 12 tackles, recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown.

Hinebaugh added six tackles, Lipscomb intercepted a pass and Landon Yoder recovered a fumble

Northern finished with a 10-2 edge in first downs and rushed for 195 yards on 29 carries. Hancock finished with 33 total yards and was held to 24 yards rushing on 31 totes.

Aiden McCarty recovered a fumble and returned it 80 yards for Hancock’s lone touchdown.

Northern is at No. 2 Frankfort (3-0) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Keyser 55, Berkeley Springs 14

KEYSER, W.Va. — Grayson Lambka and Cole Holland found the end zone twice each to lead Keyser to its first win of the season in a romp of Berkeley Springs Friday.

Lambka had touchdown runs of 56 and one yards and ended with 60 yards, and Holland on carries of 14 and one yards. Dom Crawford led the Tornado with 90 rushing yards and a TD, and Deacon Stanislawczyk, Addison Brafford and Quiz Bruny also scored.

Brafford, Keyser’s preseason starter at quarterback, returned to the Golden Tornado lineup Friday as a running back.

Keyser’s Tommy Nash was 7 of 7 on PATs.
