GAYLORD ― The Gaylord-area high school football picture is becoming clearer as we head into the final full week of September. With five full weeks of games left, teams across Otsego County know who they are and can better focus on their goals, whether that be a playoff push, a conference title or just salvaging the second half of the 2024 season.
It was a tough Friday night; Johannesburg-Lewiston suffered a 44-0 loss to conference foe Frankfort while Gaylord went on the road and fell to their rivals from Petoskey. Gaylord St. Mary salvaged the weekend for area teams, traveling to Bellaire on Saturday, Sept. 21 for a 56-8 victory over the Eagles.
