Coach Bret Bielema and the No. 21 Illini are coming off a big road win over Nebraska, the program’s first 4-0 start since 2011. Illinois, picked to finish 15th in the Big Ten by the USA TODAY Network, jumped into the coaches poll for the first time since 2022.
No. 8 Penn State (3-0) is coming off a 56-0 win over Kent State. The Nittany Lions, who finished 10-3 last season, was picked by USA TODAY to finish third place in the 18-team Big Ten.
