Iowa football still among receiving votes section in new US LBM Coaches Poll

The Iowa Hawkeyes took care of business on Saturday night, rallying from a 14-7 halftime deficit en route to a 31-14 victory over Minnesota and the Floyd of Rosedale trophy.

It’s the ninth time in the past 10 games in the series and the fifth straight in Minneapolis where Iowa has triumphed over the Gophers.

Among the biggest takeaways from the win over Minnesota is the continued dominance from junior Hawkeye running back Kaleb Johnson. The 6-foot, 225 pound back got social media buzzing with another 200-yard rushing performance and another game with multiple touchdowns.

It’s four straight games to open the season with 100-plus rushing yards and with two or more touchdowns.

It wasn’t quite enough to get Iowa back inside the top 25 of the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, though. The Hawkeyes did double their points total in the receiving votes section from 17 last week to 34 this week.

Six Big Ten teams find themselves within the rankings. Ohio State is ranked No. 3, Oregon No. 7, Penn State No. 8, Michigan No. 12, USC No. 16 and Illinois No. 21.

The top five features No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Alabama and No. 5 Ole Miss. The top 10 is rounded out by No. 6 Tennessee, No. 7 Oregon, No. 8 Penn State, No. 9 Miami and No. 10 Utah.

Here’s a look at the full US LBM Coaches Poll as the season heads into Week 5.
