Penn State football | TE Tyler Warren selected as Campbell Trophy semifinalist

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Penn State senior tight end Tyler Warren was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Wednesday.

The William V. Campbell Trophy, in its 35th year is tabbed as the “academic Heisman” is college football’s premier scholar-athlete award that annually recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

Warren graduated in the fall of 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in advertising/public relations and is pursuing a second degree in telecommunications. He is a three-time academic all-Big Ten honoree. Warren is on the Mackey Award watch list.

The Virginia native has appeared in 43 career games, making 18 starts. He earned third-team all-Big Ten honors from the coaches and honorable mention from the media in 2023.

He owns 65 receptions for 832 yards and 13 touchdowns, while adding two rushing scores and a passing touchdown.

Warren has 11 career receptions of 20-plus yards and two 100-yard games. Warren’s 13 career touchdown receptions are good for 14th all-time at Penn State and rank third among Penn State tight ends, trailing only Mike Gesicki (15; 2014-17) and Pat Freiermuth (16; 2018-20).

He is 12th among Penn State tight ends all-time with 65 career receptions and 832 career receiving yards.

He is one of five active Football Bowl Subdivision tight ends (two Big Ten) with 65-plus receptions, 830-plus receiving yards and 13-plus receiving touchdowns in his career.

Among active FBS tight ends, Warren is tied for fourth in career receiving touchdowns, while sitting third averaging 12.8 yards per reception.
