Texas Longhorns defensive back Jordon Johnson-Rubell (23) reacts after taking down Louisiana Monroe Warhawks defensive back Ozarrio Smith (34) as the Texas Longhorns take on ULM at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024.
Let the SEC era commence! The Texas Longhorns host the Mississippi State Bulldogs Saturday at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium in the program’s first official SEC conference game.
As of right now, we are still not sure who will be starting at QB for the Longhorns, Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning. Thursday, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian told the media that the decision hadn’t been made yet.
The Bulldogs have their own QB issues. Last week, Hail State lost starter Blake Sharpen for the season due to a shoulder injury. True freshman Michael Van Buren Jr. will start against Texas.
Mississippi State has struggled so far this year. The Bulldogs head to Austin with a 1-3 record that saw them get blown out at home by Toledo. First-time head coach Jeff Lebby, in his second season in Starkville, will be trying to right the ship against the No. 1 team in the nation.
