Fightin’ Chicks football loses at home to 4A sixth-ranked Bethany

Sep. 28—The Fightin’ Chicks are still searching for their first win after a blow out in their first district game of the year.

Chickasha football lost to 4A No. 6 Bethany, 52-14 on Friday at Memorial Stadium in Chickasha. The Bronchos got out to an early 10-point lead and never let up on the gas pedal.

The Fightin’ Chicks were planning to slow down the game on offense and eat up clock to keep the Bronchos’ offense off the field as long as possible, but quickly the plan failed. Chickasha coach Joe Molder said the game plan to control the clock had to change quickly once Bethany scored on its first two drives.

“Our goal was to slow down the tempo a little bit and try to keep Bethany’s offense off the field, but they are just pretty explosive and dynamic,” Molder said. “We gave up quite a few points and so we thought it would be to our advantage to control the clock and when you don’t execute, then that game plan has to change… So we are still searching for an identity.

“I think we’re starting to figure out that the teams are going to load the box and make it hard to run the football. So, we’re gonna have to get our passing game going if we’re going to be in games and that’s something we’ve got to keep working and developing.”

Throughout the game, the Bronchos controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball; They were in the backfield most of the time, tackling a Fightin’ Chick rusher or they were dominating the Fightin’ Chicks’ defensive line, creating gaps for their rushers.

Bethany finished with 298 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, led by star running…
