Ball State football is gearing up for a tough challenge on the road against undefeated James Madison.
The Cardinals (1-2, 0-1 MAC) opened MAC play last week, losing on the road to Central Michigan 37-34. While the offense looked efficient, the Ball State defense continued to struggle. It surrendered 527 total yards of offense and gave up a game-winning touchdown drive with under a minute to play.
Meanwhile, James Madison (3-0) is one of the hottest teams in the Group of 5 conferences and will look to stay hot in front of its home crowd. The Dukes put the college football world on notice with a 70-50 victory at North Carolina in which the defense forced five turnovers and the offense managed 611 total yards. JMU looks like a legitimate contender for the Group of 5 spot in the first 12-team College Football Playoff.
