After the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night, the program received some significant news on the recruiting front, as highly-touted linebacker prospect Darrell Johnson announced that he would be officially shutting down his recruitment.
Johnson was one of the numerous recruits who were in town for Alabama’s victory over Georgia on Saturday night, with the announcement coming on social media shortly after the conclusion of the game.
One of the top 2025 prospects from the state of Georgia, Johnson is a long-time Alabama commit who has been committed to the Crimson Tide since March of 2024.
Johnson, who attends Dodge County High School, is also the No. 7 overall player in the state of Georgia, as well as No. 34 nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. A highly-rated four-star prospect, Johnson is also ranked as the No. 4 overall linebacker in the class.
The four-star is the highest-ranked of four linebackers in Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class, one that ranks No. 2 overall nationally.
