This might be an eye-grabber for a lot of USC football fans. The Trojans are ranked three spots below LSU in the new US LBM Coaches Poll, presented by USA TODAY Sports. The poll is out after Week 5 of the college football season. Michigan, which beat USC, followed up its win over the Trojans by beating Minnesota. Despite that fact, USC is three spots below the LSU team it defeated in Week 1. It’s true that the Trojans were not impressive against Wisconsin, playing a terrible first half before winning 38-21. However, LSU has not been especially impressive this season, either. The Tigers were very fortunate to win at South Carolina in a game which went down to the wire. The Tigers played bad defense against Nicholls. They struggled with a not-very-good UCLA team at home. Yet, they’re three spots ahead of the Trojans. The head-to-head result is being disregarded by a lot of the voters in the poll. The SEC gets the nod over USC.
