The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a chance to turn their season back around after an inexcusable loss last Sunday, and they’ve got a chance to prove that last season’s playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles was no fluke.
Even better, they can do both in front of an old friend.
When the Bucs (2-1) take on the Eagles (2-1) in Tampa on Sunday afternoon, Tom Brady will be on the call for FOX Sports, marking his first appearance at his old home since retiring after the 2022 season. Brady, of course, spent the final three years of his celebrated career with the Bucs, leading them to the Super Bowl LV championship — his seventh and the Bucs’ first in 18 years.
The current Bucs, of course, are quarterbacked by Baker Mayfield, who led them to a 9-8 record and a 32-9 win over the Eagles in the first round of the playoffs last season. The Bucs were 2-0 this year before they spoiled their hot start with an ugly, 26-7 loss at home to the Denver Broncos last week.
They’ll be facing an Eagles team coming off a tough, 15-12 win in New Orleans last Sunday — but one that might be without several key players. Their top two receivers — A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith — and right tackle Lane Johnson are all injured and unlikely to play.
It’s a huge game between two teams hoping to compete for the NFC Championship, with an NFL legend looking on from the broadcast booth.
