The game of the year for the Oregon Ducks is now less than two weeks away.
It’s a matchup that fans have had circled on their schedules for months now, and we finally get to pencil in a game time for the marquee showdown between Oregon and Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday, October 12.
The Ducks and Buckeyes will square off at 4:30 p.m. PT in Autzen Stadium, with the game aired on NBC, it was officially announced on Monday morning.
Though still over a week away, it feels safe to say that this game will be played between a pair of top-10 ranked teams, and quite possibly between top-5 ranked teams. At the moment, Ohio State ranks No. 3 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, while Oregon is No. 6.
For both the Ducks and Buckeyes, this will undoubtedly be the biggest test of the season thus far. Oregon faced and beat the Boise State Broncos — ranked No. 21 in the AP Top 25 — but haven’t faced strong competition outside of that. Meanwhile, Ohio State has beat Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall, and Michigan State by a combined score of 195-27 through the first four games.
With the Ducks now in the Big Ten with Ohio State, there’s a good chance that this game is the first of two meetings in 2024, with a rematch potentially coming in the Big Ten Championship Game, should both teams make it to Indianapolis. If you want to take it one step further, this could even be the first of three meetings between Oregon and Ohio State, with the new 12-team College Football Playoff presenting another opportunity for a rematch as well.
