MANHATTAN — Kansas State football solidified its position in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll with a solid 42-20 Big 12 victory Saturday over Oklahoma State at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
While jumping five spots to No. 20, the Wildcats (4-1, 1-1 Big 12) also knocked a team out of the rankings for the second time in three weeks as Oklahoma State (3-2, 0-2) dropped out altogether. K-State previously took down Arizona, which remains on the outside looking in despite upsetting No. 10 Utah.
“We beat a good football team, and we’re going to enjoy it as we have this week off,” K-State coach Chris Klieman.
The Oklahoma game represented a bounce-back win for K-State, which had dropped 11 places last week after a blowout loss at BYU. No. 19 BYU (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) remained unbeaten Saturday by edging Baylor on the road, 34-28.
With Oklahoma State dropping out and Utah (4-1,1-1) falling to No. 18, Iowa State (4-0, 1-0) is now the top-rated of four remaining Big 12 teams at 16th.
K-State has a bye this week before hitting the road for back-to-back games at Colorado on Oct. 12 and West Virginia on Oct. 19.
