Big Ten power rankings: Who moved up and down and where Oregon football stands

Ohio State continues to look like the class of the Big Ten Conference, though the toughest portion of its schedule is still on the horizon.

The same could be said for second-tier teams Oregon, Penn State and Michigan, who all remain in the top 10 of the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Indiana also remains on its rapid rise up the standings thanks to its 5-0 start.

1. Ohio State

This week: vs. Iowa, 12:30 p.m. Saturday (CBS)

Last week: 38-7 win at Michigan State

What to know: The Buckeyes battered the Ducks’ next opponent as they kept their hold on the Big Ten power rankings’ top spot for the fifth straight week. Ohio State scored 35 points in the second and third quarters to turn its game against the Spartans into a blowout.

2. Oregon

Last week: 2

Record: 4-0, 1-0

This week: vs. Michigan State, 6 p.m. Friday (FOX)

Last week: 34-13 win at UCLA

What to know: What a performance by the Ducks’ defense against the Bruins. Oregon allowed just 172 total yards, had four sacks, two interceptions and held UCLA to 1-for-11 on the third down and its offense out of the end zone.

3. Penn State

Last week: 3

Record: 4-0, 1-0

This week: vs. UCLA, 9 a.m. Saturday (FOX)
