Brock Glenn expected to start for FSU after DJ Uiagalelei ruled out

Florida State starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei will miss Saturday’s game against his former team, No. 15 Clemson, with a hand injury, clearing the way for redshirt freshman Brock Glenn to start.

Seminoles coach Mike Norvell told Tallahassee reporters after Tuesday’s practice that Uiagalelei will “most likely” miss the next few weeks, pending the results of more testing.

Uiagalelei has struggled since transferring to FSU from Oregon State this offseason. He was pulled in the fourth quarter Saturday after his third interception, and he ranks at or near the bottom of the ACC in completion percentage, passing efficiency and touchdown-to-interception ratio. His performance led to more questions about whether the 1-4 Seminoles needed a change.

The injury necessitated one.

Glenn is in line for his third career start. The former top-500 national recruit beat Louisville for the ACC championship in his first start and was also the top quarterback in the Orange Bowl debacle against Georgia. In six appearances (five last year, one this year), his only touchdown was a rushing score. Glenn has completed 34.5% of his passes for 229 yards and two interceptions.

Luke Kromenhoek, a top-60 national recruit in the 2024 class, is next on the depth chart.

On Tuesday, Norvell praised Glenn’s improved understanding of the system.

“Anticipation, but even with anticipation, trusting your eyes, trust what you see, to be able to go through what you anticipate to happen, and then not guess …” Norvell said.

“I’ve been really pleased in how both of those guys have prepared each and every week leading up, because you never know when that is opportunity is going to present itself. Obviously, the door is open now, and I am excited to see them go through it.”
