When asked about the reported talks between the Southeastern Conference and Big Ten Conference about a scheduling agreement, Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy talked for a few minutes Monday afternoon about a variety of concerns, but primarily pointed to the need for Power Four conferences to have a single commissioner who oversees all of major college football.
And Gundy suggested former Alabama coach Nick Saban would be ideal for the role.
“We’re at a real dangerous predicament right now,” Gundy said of the state of college football. “And I hope somebody, like — I probably need to text Coach Saban before I say this, but I hope somebody like that becomes a college football commissioner, because he understands the importance of equality, in my opinion, because he’s a smart man that’s been in it for a long time.
“But that’s what we need, and we need to get it as fast as we can, before we start to lose it and then try to recover back, a la NASCAR and LIV with PGA golf (which) has become a mess because of that.”
