As Jets head coach Robert Saleh offered an injury update ahead of Wednesday’s practice, he noted that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be among the names listed in the team’s official injury report to be released later in the day.
That being said, there’s no reason for Jets fans to hold their breath.
Saleh said that Rodgers, who is dealing with a knee injury, would be a full participant in practice, but he ended up officially being limited.
“He’s just dealing with his knee, but we’re not concerned,” Saleh said. “It’s for the spirit of the rule if he’s getting treatment for something, he’s got to be on the injury report.”
Rodgers said after the loss to Denver on Sunday that he was “fine” after getting “banged up a little bit,” noting that he’s “got some stuff with both legs.” In an interview later in the week, Rodgers specified that he was dealing wit a knee issue.
Rodgers, who was sacked five times and hit nine other times in the 10-9 loss to the Broncos, has thrown for 849 yards with five touchdowns and just one interception this season.
No issue with cadence
Saleh was also asked on Wednesday if there was a lingering issue with Rodgers’ cadence. This came following Saleh saying Rodgers may need to dial back his cadence following five pre-snap penalties on Sunday, with Rodgers later firing back that perhaps the Jets’ players need to be held more accountable for jumping early.
“There is no cadence issue,” Saleh said Wednesday. “There never was a cadence issue. It was created.”
In a follow-up question, Saleh was asked about his relationship with his starting quarterback.
“Aaron and I are fantastic,” Saleh said. “Love the guy.”
